FAQs
Please note that while the foster cat(s) are in your care they are still the property of Spencerville TNR; they will be strictly an indoor cat and any veterinary needs are to be reported back to the rescue immediately.
Q: What is a SECURE room?
A: a small room with a door that closes and can be left closed, closed and secure windows, no holes in the ceiling, floor, walls cats could hide in. No space heaters (these are a fire hazard left unattended if a cat knocks them over)
Q: I work a full time job, do I have to take my cats to the vet?
A: No, however you would have to bring them to the cattery so a volunteer drive could take them to their appointments. If we know a cats needs further veterinary care prior to going into foster, we would make that foster aware as part of the placement process.
Q: How often would I have to take cats to adoption events
A: Depends on a lot of factors, but our main goal is to get foster adopted quickly to free up foster space to help more cats! Typically we have 1-2 adoption events per month. We try to give as much warning as possible about events
Q: Do I need to have experience with shy cats?
A: No! Our foster group is full of people who are very willing to answer questions, as well as our wonderful coordinators. Experience can be an asset, but what is more important is a willingness to learn and follow the rules.
Q: Do I have to provide food, litter for the fosters?
A: No, we can provide both, however they must be arranged to be picked up from the cattery. We do not reimburse for these expenses if you choose to purchase your own.
